JADE - Unarmed Combat

Return to JADE Home Page

The following rules were written many years ago. I hope you find them useful.

Pumelling, Punching, Kicking

This is a standard attack, treated exactly as any other Melee Weapon. It does D2 points of damage.
Remember that in Jade the first 2 points of every blunt attack are Subdual Damage. For more details of Subdual Damage look at the JADE - Rules Modifications.

Grappling

Normal Initiative - grapplers are weapon speed 1 (modified by size)
Successful Grapples inflict

If attacker goes first

Attacker(s) roll to hit ignoring Armour

If the defender goes first

Following the normal Melee Attack, the defender may choose to Fend-Off one or more grapplers.
The Fend-Off is one or more additional Melee Attacks at normal chance to hit (-1 per extra attacker)
The Fend-Off causes no damage to the target unless the target chooses to IGNORE the Fend-Off and continue with the Grapple attempt (in which case they take double maximum damage)
A successful Fend-Off prevents the target from any action that round.

On defender's Initiative he/she may do one of the following

Chance to Shrug-Off Table (d100)

+/- 5% per difference in Levels/Hit Dice
+/- difference in Bend Bars %
+/- 5% per level for Monks and Talons
+/- 5% for each Unarmed Combat Weapon Proficiency Slot
+ 5% if defender has Tumbling Skill If the Grappler(s) opt to Disarm or Throw, the Victim gets an additional chance to Shrug-Off.
